FITTING INSTRUCTION

  • Accessories which are not correctly installed can be dangerous. Read the instructions carefully prior to ordering and installation to make sure this accessory is applicable to your variant of vehicle. Comply with instructions at all times. If in doubt, contact your nearest approved retailer.

WARNING
  • For all markets with the exception of Norway, vehicles with Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) between SADHB2R14K1F60001 and SADHD2S10K1F61604, a new VIN label showing the gross combination weight MUST be ordered and installed to comply with market legislation.
  • The 21 model year specific electrics kits (T4K11415) and (T4K11423) must be used when installing the detachable towbar to some of the 21 model year vehicles and all vehicles that are 22 model year onwards. Vehicles with VIN where the 10th character is the letter 'M' or a subsequent letter of the alphabet, must only have kits (T4K11415) and (T4K11423) installed. Example: SADHA2B14M1F89112. VIN where the 10th character is the letter 'K' or 'L' must only have electrics kit (T4K11414) installed. Example SADHA2A18K1F60131.
CAUTION
  • Do not use the Jaguar Land Rover Approved Diagnostic Equipment to configure the detachable towbar electrics.
NOTE
  • Parts T4K9902 / C2C26750 and C2P4787 are 'ONLY' required if your vehicle is equipped with 'Coil Suspension'.
  • TRM Bracket (T4K9902) requirement for 'Coil Suspension' vehicles only from VIN SADHA2A14N1622769 onwards

REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING
  • For all markets with the exception of Norway, vehicles with VIN between SADHB2R14K1F60001 and SADHD2S10K1F61604, a new VIN label showing the gross combination weight MUST be ordered and installed to comply with market legislation.

For vehicles between SADHB2R14K1F60001 and SADHD2S10K1F61604, install a new label.

  1. Remove the current VIN label from the base of the B-pillar. Use a heat applicator to assist removal.
  2. Clean the area where the new VIN label will be installed.
  3. Remove the backing from the new VIN label and install the VIN label at the base of the B-pillar as illustrated.

Open the tailgate.

Disconnect the vehicle start-up battery.

Remove parcel shelf.

Remove the loadspace floor trim.

Remove the loadspace treadplate but pulling it up from its x6 clips.

Release the lower edge of the loadspace trim panels on both sides of the vehicle.

  1. Remove the x4 clips (black arrows).
  2. Remove the x2 D-loop anchor point (white arrows).

Remove junction box access panel

Remove foam tool tray.

Remove the rear bumper.

NOTE
  • Retain the x6 M12 rear armature bolts for installation of the detachable towbar.
  • Retain the x5 rear bumper absorber bolts for installation of the rear absorber to the detachable towbar.

Remove the rear armature.

Mark the position where the central hole will be drilled in the rear bumper absorber.

  1. Place the rear bumper absorber against the detachable towbar (A). Align the x2 locators on the rear bumper absorber to the detachable towbar (A).
  2. Install the x2 outer fixings to the rear bumper absorber, hand tight only.
  3. Using the detachable towbar center nut as a guide, mark the location where the central hole in the rear bumper absorber needs to be drilled, as illustrated.
  4. Remove the rear bumper absorber from the detachable towbar.

Drill the center hole in the rear bumper absorber.

  1. Use a pilot drill for the initial hole.
  2. Drill a 10 mm diameter hole.

Install the rear bumper absorber to the detachable towbar (A).

  1. Align the x2 locators on the rear bumper absorber to the detachable towbar (A).
  2. Tighten the x5 fixings.
  3. Torque: 5 Nm

Move the rear parking aid sensor harness aside to avoid damage to the harness when cutting the bumper.

  1. Disconnect the x2 rear parking aid sensor harness clips.
  2. Move the released part of the rear parking aid sensor harness aside. Apply tape to hold in position as illustrated.

NOTE
  • The holes are required for the bolts that attach the rear bumper to the detachable towbar support bracket.

Mark the locations where the x2 holes will be drilled in the rear bumper as illustrated.

Mark the location where the hole will be drilled in the rear bumper for the clip (I).

Drill x2 holes of 12 mm diameter at the location marked in step 18.

Drill a 12 mm diameter hole at the location marked in step 19.

  • This following steps are not required if the rear bumper already has the x2 cutouts.

The rear bumper must have x2 cutouts as illustrated. Follow steps 23 to 29 to create the x2 cutouts.

Use suitable tooling to cut the section from the rear bumper as illustrated. Discard the part removed from the rear bumper.

Make sure the rear bumper has the 2 cutouts as illustrated.

Fitting Instruction

WARNING
  • Make sure to wear suitable personal protective equipment.
CAUTION
  • Make sure the drill bit and the hole cutter do not come into contact with the air suspension compressor when cutting through the air suspension compressor tray. The drill bit must not go deeper than 5 mm into the tray.

Cut a hole for the towbar wiring harness grommet, as illustrated.

  1. Measure and mark the center point for the hole on the air suspension compressor tray, as illustrated.
  2. Drill a pilot hole using a 2 mm diameter drill bit.
  3. Using a suitable hole cutter, cut a 32 mm diameter hole in the air suspension compressor tray.

WARNING
  • This step requires the assistance of another person.
NOTE
  • Use the 6 M12 bolts previously removed from the rear armature of the vehicle.

Install the detachable towbar (A) to the vehicle.

  1. Install the 6 M12 bolts and the 6 washers (G). Bolts should be hand tight only at this stage. There are 3 bolts on each side of the detachable towbar.

Replace the towbar wiring harness clip bolts with the longer bolts (C).

  1. Remove the 2 bolts from the vehicle as illustrated.
  2. Install the 2 bolts (C).
  3. Torque: 10 Nm

NOTE
  • This step is 'ONLY' required if your vehicle is equipped with 'Coil Suspension'.

Install bracket (U) with fixings (V) and (W).

  • Torque: 10Nm

  • Coil Suspension variant shown. Air Suspension is similar.
  • TRM bracket is already installed if your vehicle has air suspension.

Install the (R) to bracket and secure using x2 M6 nuts (S).

  • Torque: 10Nm

Install the towbar wiring harness socket (B1) to the detachable towbar bracket.

  1. Install the fixings (D) and (F).
  2. Torque: 12 Nm
  3. Press the towbar wiring harness clip into the hole on the detachable towbar bracket.

Make sure the towbar wiring harness socket is placed in the stowage position as illustrated.

NOTE
  • Make sure the towbar wiring harness grommet fully seals around the hole.
  • Applying lubricant to the grommet will help secure the grommet to the air suspension compressor tray.

Install the towbar wiring harness grommet to the air suspension compressor tray.

  • Continue feeding the towbar wiring harness (B1) through the hole in the air suspension compressor tray as illustrated.

Place the towbar wiring harness (B2) into the loadspace.

NOTE
  • Loadspace side trim removed from illustration to provide extra clarity.

Connect the towbar wiring harness (B2) to the trailer light module (R).

  1. Connect the towbar wiring harness to the trailer light module.
  2. Connect the clip into the vehicle stud as illustrated.

CAUTION
  • Take care not to damage the loadspace left trim panel.
NOTE
  • Loadspace side trim removed from parts of illustration to provide extra clarity.

Remove the blanking plug from the vehicles body harness connector.

  1. Carefully move aside the rear lower edge of the loadspace left trim panel.
  2. Release the clip and remove the blanking plug from the connector.

CAUTION
  • Take care not to damage the loadspace left trim panel.
NOTE
  • Loadspace side trim removed from illustration to provide extra clarity.

Connect the towbar wiring harness (B2) to the vehicle body wiring harness as illustrated.

Route the towbar wiring harness (B2) along the top of the vehicle body harness.

  1. Feed the towbar wiring harness (B2) through the Noise, Vibration and Harshness Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) pad.
  2. Position the towbar wiring harness (B2) over the top of the vehicle body harness.

Connect together the 2 parts of the towbar wiring harness (B1) and (B2) as illustrated.

NOTE
  • The Noise, Vibration and Harshness NVH pads have been removed from illustration to provide extra clarity.
  • Route the towbar wiring harness (B1) and (B2) along the top of the vehicle body harness where possible.

Secure the towbar wiring harness (B1) and (B2) to the vehicle body wiring harness.

  1. Use the foam tape (T) around the connectors at the 2 locations as illustrated.
  2. Use the tie clips (H) at the 5 locations as illustrated. Make sure the towbar wiring harness (B1) and (B2) is routed along the top of the vehicle body wiring harness where possible.
  3. Make sure the towbar wiring harness (B2) has sufficient clearance from the treadplate fixing point.

CAUTION
  • Move the earth bolt cable so it has the same orientation as the vehicle body harness and avoids risk of getting trapped.

Attach the towbar wiring harness (B2) to the ground point using the earth bolt as illustrated.

  • Torque: 10 Nm
  • Move the earth bolt cable so it has the same orientation as the vehicle body harness and avoids risk of getting trapped.

NOTE
  • Loadspace side trim removed from illustration to provide extra clarity.
  • Route the towbar wiring harness (B1) and (B2) along the top of the vehicle body harness where possible.

Secure the towbar wiring harness (B1) and (B2) to the vehicle body wiring harness using the tie clips (H) at the 3 locations as illustrated.

  1. Feed the towbar wiring harness (B2) through the Noise, Vibration and Harshness NVH pad.
  2. Make sure the towbar wiring harness parts (B1) and (B2) have sufficient clearance from the treadplate fixing point.

Secure the towbar wiring harness stud clips as illustrated.

Diagnostic.

  1. Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, update the Trailer Light Module to the latest software.
  2. Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, configure the Trailer Light Module to enable detachable towbar electrics on the vehicle.

WARNING
  • Observe the bolt tightening sequence on both sides of the vehicle.
  • Torque: 100 Nm +/-15 Nm

Tighten the detachable towbar bolts in the sequence shown.

  • Torque: 100 Nm +/-15 Nm

  • Do not install the rear bumper lower valance (J) at this stage.

Install the rear bumper.

Install the fixings and washers (D) and (E) through the rear bumper into the towbar support brackets.

  • Torque: 5 Nm

Install the clip (I) to the rear bumper as illustrated.

CAUTION
  • Make sure all the clips are located correctly.

Install the rear bumper lower valance (J) to the rear bumper.

  1. Align and secure the 10 clips.
  2. Install the 6 bolts.

Install the tow eye cover (K) to the rear bumper lower valance.

  1. Install the fastener (L) to the tow eye cover panel.
  2. Install the fastener retaining washer (M) to the fastener (L).
  3. Install the tow eye cover panel (K) to the rear bumper lower valance as illustrated.
  4. Hinge the tow eye cover panel upwards and secure by turning the fastener (L) a quarter of a turn using the coin shape provided on the key ring. The fastener (L) locates in the clip (I).

Install the foam tool tray.

Install junction box access panel

Install left loadspace side trim panel.

  1. Install the x4 clips (black arrows).
  2. Install the x2 D-loop anchor point (white arrows). Torque 24Nm

Install an clip into place the loadspace treadplate with its x6 clips.

Remove the loadspace floor trim.

Install parcel shelf.

Connect the vehicle start-up battery.

Close the tailgate.

NOTE
  • A pair of gloves have been provided in the kit (P) for use by the customer when installing and removing the towbar arm.

Remove the dirt cap (N) before installing the towbar arm.

  • Store the towbar arm installation guide in the vehicle glovebox.

For installation of the towbar arm (P) refer to the separate guide supplied with the towbar arm accessory kit.

  1. Store the towbar arm in the bag when the towbar arm is not in use.

Install the dirt cap (N) to the detachable towbar when the towbar arm has been removed.
