FITTING INSTRUCTION

WARNING
  • Accessories which are not correctly installed can be dangerous. Read the instructions carefully prior to installation. Comply with instructions at all times. If in doubt, contact your nearest approved retailer.
CAUTION
  • If protective wax has been applied to the vehicle it must be thoroughly removed before starting this procedure.
  • The vehicle must be clean, dry and at workshop temperature. Vehicles moved into the workshop from cold or wet conditions should be dried and left to stand for a minimum of 2 hours.

Ruler
Sharp pick (for position marking)
Drill (Ø8mm, 15mm Depth)
Torque Wrench/Screw Driver (range up to 5Nm). Recommended GE5.3: 1/4 dr torque screwdriver for 56 - 451 N/cm (0.56 - 4.5 Nm)
Torque Wrench/Screw Driver (range upto 5Nm)
Paint markers for metal

NOTE
  • Left side illustrations shown. Right side is similar.

WARNING
  • Make sure to support the vehicle using axle stands.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable lift.

Remove the front wheels and tires.

  • For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Wheel and Tire (204-04)

NOTE
  • Retain the fixings for installation.

Remove x2 fixings securing the lower edge of the wheel arch liner and release the wheel arch liner from the lower edge.

Position the front mudflap at the installation position. Mark the location where the hole at the base of the front mudflap needs to be drilled. The hole will be used for locating the stud on the front mudflap and the nut (E).

WARNING
  • Make sure to wear suitable personal protective equipment.
CAUTION
  • Do not exceed a depth of 15mm.

Drill a hole at the location marked in step 4.

  1. Use a pilot drill bit for the initial hole.
  2. Use an 8mm drill bit for the final hole size.

  • Make sure to wear suitable personal protective equipment.
CAUTION
  • Allow to dry for a minimum of 60 seconds before proceeding to the next step

Using the supplied cleaner (C), clean the illustrated area.

Apply the supplied adhesion promoter (D) to the illustrated area.

Remove and discard the backing from the adhesive strip.

CAUTION
  • Make sure that the front mudflap is correctly in position before the adhesive strip makes contact with the vehicle body.

Install the front mudflap onto the vehicle body

  1. Make sure that the front mudflap locating tag is located between the vehicle sill and the lower edge of the fender to assist in correct alignment.
  2. Apply gentle pressure to the front mudflap to make sure a good adhesion to the body.

WARNING
  • Tightening the fixing studs above the specified torque level will result in joint failure / stud breaking.
  • Any claims due to improper torque assembly will be rejected.
CAUTION
  • Use the Jaguar Land Rover approved torque wrenches to achieve the required torque.

Install the supplied nut (E) onto the mudflap stud as illustrated.

  1. Using a suitable hand torque wrench, tighten the nut to the required torque. Apply a paint mark (white/yellow) on the stud, nut and washer when the right torque is reached.
  2. Torque: 2Nm

Return the wheel arch liner to the correct position.

NOTE
  • The bracket (G) should be positioned between the liner and the vehicle sill.

Install the bracket (G).

NOTE
  • Make sure the fixing feeds through the bracket and threads correctly into the liner nuts.

Install x2 fixings removed in step 3.

  • Torque: 2Nm

CAUTION
  • Make sure that the x2 part clips are fully pressed together when securely clamping around the vehicles sill edge and bracket.

Install the x2 supplied clips (F) as illustrated.

Inspect the final installation for correct alignment.

Install the front wheels and tires.
